Breen House

Breen House, Lenzie

Coogan Architects were commissioned to design an extension to this 1900’s sandstone villa in Lenzie, Glasgow to replace an existing side conservatory.

Our solution was to create a new dining space accessed from a new, relocated kitchen with full height frameless glazing to maximise views towards the rear garden.

Connected to the dining room is a new living space which benefits from a high vaulted ceiling, lantern rooflight and feature window to the street side.

At a lower level from the existing house, this new living space creates a gradual progression down towards the rear garden, strengthening the connection between internal and external space.

The high quality palette of blonde sandstone, zinc and slate provide a contemporary design solution, which sits comfortably with the existing house.
